My wife Geraldine, son Scott and I moved to Perth, Western Australia, from South Africa. In a market of diminishing job opportunities in South Africa, I realised that I had transferable skills that were in demand in the booming resources sector in Australia. Now engaged as a planner/scheduler with Monadelphous Group, I have found long-term job security and increased opportunities to enjoy more quality family time. The transformation was straightforward and I was made to feel very welcome. I particularly enjoy the positive attitude to work that I have found in my new workplace and colleagues.

We have quickly embraced the Australian lifestyle. With family still in South Africa, I admit that the decision to move

to Australia was not an easy one, but we felt the career opportunity was just too good to turn down. The quality of life offered in Perth is just as enticing as the job prospects. The people of Western Australia are very friendly, making us feel welcome. The public transport system is safe and reliable and we enjoy the open spaces and parks along the beautiful Swan River. We believe there is no other place on earth we would rather be right now.
